Temu for brands: seller models, requirements and how to protect your pricing

Updated · Ecomsellertool

Short answer

Temu has three seller models. Fully managed: suppliers consign stock to warehouses in China and Temu sets the price. Semi-managed: merchants ship stock to US warehouses; confirm pricing terms with Temu. Local Seller Program: you fulfill from US stock, yourself or through Temu partners, and set the base price you keep, which suits most US brands; a business needs an EIN and ID checks. The main risk is a low Temu price undercutting your Amazon and Walmart offers, so run Temu from shared price floors and stock.

  • Temu introduced its Local Seller Program in 2024; its December 2025 list names 37 program markets, including the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK and Germany.
  • The Conversation ties Temu's low prices to a consigned-stock model: PDD sets the final price, while manufacturers stock its warehouses in China and reclaim whatever goes unsold.
  • A Temu local seller's base price is the seller's take from each sale at regular, non-promotional prices; tax and any shipping fee are settled apart from it.
  • Amazon counts an offer as competitively priced when item price plus shipping is at or under the lowest price at major retailers outside Amazon, a factor in the Featured Offer.
  • Walmart automatically unpublishes a Marketplace offer priced "egregiously higher" than what the same item sells for, now or recently, on Walmart.com or a competing site.
  • Temu's Brand Guardian Initiative began in April 2024, now covers more than 3,000 brands, and gives participants support and enforcement data even without a Temu store.

What Temu requires

  • A seller account as a corporation, partnership or sole proprietorship; individuals can also join under their own name, with personal ID details instead of business registration.
  • For a business: legal name, EIN and registered address that match your IRS records, such as the CP 575 EIN notice. Temu may show the address on your public store profile.
  • Government ID for owners, executives or legal representatives when Temu asks; the US flow checks a representative's photo ID through Jumio.
  • Domestic fulfillment from US stock with tracking, shipped yourself with approved carriers or through Temu partners' shipping and fulfillment services.
  • Product safety and certification compliance for each category and market you sell into.
  • No registration fee; confirm commission, shipping and fulfillment terms for your categories in Seller Center before you model margin.

What we automate

  • One product record per SKU that maps your Temu listing to the same item on Amazon, Walmart and your store, with attributes and images pushed from one source.
  • Per-SKU price floors and channel rules that set your Temu base price, with the live Temu shopper price checked against the floor; reseller price checks can be added where needed.
  • Available-to-sell quantity for Temu from a shared stock pool, with a per-channel buffer designed to keep Temu orders from drawing down stock reserved for FBA or Walmart.
  • Temu orders pulled into one order hub, routed to the right warehouse or 3PL, with tracking sent back to Temu.
  • Per-order contribution margin for Temu, net of fees, shipping and returns, next to your other channels.
  • An optional AI agent, built per brand, that can watch Temu for unauthorized or lookalike listings and prepare evidence for Temu's IP complaint process.

How does selling on Temu work for a brand?

Temu, owned by PDD Holdings, launched in North America in September 2022. Its three seller models differ on who holds the stock and who controls the shopper price.

The Conversation links Temu's low prices to consignment: PDD sets the final price, while manufacturers stock its warehouses in China and reclaim whatever goes unsold. It dates Temu's move toward a semi-managed model, with merchants shipping by sea to US warehouses, to March 2024. That predates the US import change below, so check how managed models run today.

The Local Seller Program, introduced in 2024, is the marketplace model. US domestic fulfillment started in March 2024 and opened to all US merchants that November. Temu names 37 program markets, and US sellers gained access to Canada in December 2025.

Which Temu seller model fits a brand?

For most brands, the Local Seller Program, because you set the base price: your take from each sale at regular, non-promotional prices, with tax and any shipping fee settled apart from it. Promotions and discounts can change what shoppers pay, so review promotions you join and watch the live price. In the fully managed model, Temu sets the price.

Local stock also matters because US import rules changed. Duty-free de minimis treatment has been suspended for all countries since August 29, 2025. A February 2026 order continued it, and CBP made the suspension indefinite for non-postal shipments from June 24, 2026 and for mail from July 24, 2026. Orders shipped from US stock are domestic, and that stock can share one pool with FBA, Walmart and your own store.

What do you need to sell on Temu in the US?

Registration is free, and Temu says applications are normally reviewed within one business day. A business needs an EIN and business details that match its IRS records, ID for owners or representatives when asked, and US stock to ship with tracking, itself or through Temu partners. Individuals can join under their own name. A sponsored Digital Commerce 360 walkthrough of the US flow shows Jumio checking the representative's ID photo and lists USPS, UPS and DHL among Temu's logistics partners.

Checks are strict. Temu's latest IP report, not split by country, says more than 40% of new applicants failed onboarding verification from June 2025 to May 2026.

Temu says no commission comes out of the base price, so leave commission and shipping out of it. Shipping settles differently for Temu-arranged labels and self-shipped orders; confirm current terms in Seller Center before you model margin.

How can a Temu price hurt your Amazon and Walmart sales?

Both compare your offer with prices elsewhere, and neither publishes which sites it checks.

  • Amazon calls the lowest price at major retailers outside Amazon its competitive external price, and counts your offer as competitively priced for the Featured Offer when price plus shipping is at or under it.
  • Walmart's Pricing Rule automatically unpublishes an offer when its price is "egregiously higher" than what the item sells for, now or recently, on Walmart.com or competing sites. Once the price complies, Walmart typically republishes within 48 hours. See selling on Walmart.

If either counts Temu, a much lower Temu price could cost you the Featured Offer or, with a large enough gap, get Walmart offers unpublished. Temu-set prices, promotions and unauthorized sellers pricing low all raise that risk.

How do you protect your brand on Temu?

Others may list your products or lookalikes even if you never sell on Temu. In the Brand Guardian Initiative, launched in April 2024, brands share their trademarks and other IP rights with Temu so its monitoring can check listings against them. More than 3,000 brands take part. Each gets individual support and ongoing enforcement updates, even brands with no Temu store.

Disclosure rules apply too. In September 2025 the FTC said Whaleco, Temu's US operator, would pay a $2 million civil penalty over alleged INFORM Consumers Act violations. Once a high-volume seller reaches $20,000 in annual gross revenue on a marketplace, the Act requires the marketplace to show shoppers the seller's name, physical address and contact details, with a narrower option for home-based sellers.

How does Growth OS keep Temu consistent with your other channels?

Ecomsellertool Growth OS runs Temu on your own accounts, next to your other channels. Temu is one of the 20+ marketplaces we have shipped integrations for.

  1. One catalog. Each Temu listing maps to the same SKU on Amazon, Walmart and your store from one product record, the catalog pattern behind Ecom Global, built for 100M+ products.
  2. Price floors per SKU. Temu base prices publish from your floor, and the live Temu price is checked against it so you can fix a gap quickly.
  3. One stock pool. Temu sees shared stock minus a per-channel buffer, designed to keep a Temu spike from eating into stock set aside for FBA or Walmart.
  4. One order flow. Temu orders route to the right warehouse or 3PL from the same order hub, and tracking goes back to Temu. See order routing.
  5. Real margin. Fees, shipping and returns are counted per order, so Temu's contribution margin sits next to every other channel.
  6. Brand watch. Where needed, we build an AI agent, per brand, that flags lookalike or unauthorized Temu listings and gathers evidence for IP complaints.

The multi-marketplace plumbing follows what we built for Seller7, a seller OS used by 700+ sellers across 20+ marketplaces. Custom modules we build for you are yours and the Growth OS base is licensed to you, so your rules and data stay with you.

Frequently asked questions

Are Temu and Amazon connected?

No. Temu belongs to PDD Holdings, which also runs Pinduoduo, and its US operator is Whaleco, Inc. The link that matters to a brand is pricing: Amazon compares your offer with the lowest price at major retailers outside Amazon without naming which retailers it checks, so a lower Temu price could weaken your claim on the Featured Offer if Temu is one of them.

Does Temu have third-party sellers?

Yes. Through the Local Seller Program, introduced in 2024, local businesses and individual sellers list products and fulfill orders in their own market. Domestic fulfillment opened to all US merchants in November 2024, and Temu names 37 program markets.

What do I need to sell on Temu as a US brand?

A seller account with your business type, legal name, EIN and registered address matching your IRS records, government ID for owners or representatives when Temu asks, and US stock you can ship with tracking, either yourself or through Temu partners' fulfillment services. Temu charges no registration fee.

Will selling on Temu hurt my Amazon or Walmart pricing?

It can, if Temu shows a lower price and the marketplace counts Temu among the sites it checks; neither Amazon nor Walmart publishes that list. Amazon wants price plus shipping at or under the lowest price at major outside retailers, and Walmart unpublishes offers priced egregiously higher than elsewhere. Hold one price floor per SKU and watch the live Temu price.

How do I stop unauthorized sellers listing my brand on Temu?

Join Temu's Brand Guardian Initiative. You share your trademarks and other IP rights with Temu, its monitoring checks listings against them, and you get support and enforcement data even if you do not sell on Temu. Report anything it misses through Temu's IP complaint process.

Can I connect Temu to Shopify or my existing systems?

Yes. Temu released a Shopify app in December 2025 that syncs products, updates inventory in real time and coordinates orders and shipping. In a September 2026 release focused on Europe, Temu cited more than 200 ERP integrations. Growth OS is built to add shared price rules, stock allocation and margin reporting across all channels.
