For Shopify brands adding Amazon, Walmart and TikTok Shop
Updated · By Ecomsellertool editorial team
A Shopify brand expanding to Amazon and Walmart needs more than listings: one stock count every channel sells from, a rule for where each order ships (your 3PL, Amazon MCF or Walmart's network) and a catalog mapped to each marketplace. Shopify's Marketplace Connect covers listings, orders and stock for Amazon, Walmart, eBay and Target Plus. Once stock sits in several places, Ecomsellertool builds that layer on your own accounts.
- Shopify Marketplace Connect connects Amazon, eBay, Walmart (US only) and Target Plus (US only); new Etsy connections can't be made and TikTok Shop is not listed (checked September 25, 2026).
- Marketplace Connect is free to install; the first 50 marketplace-synced orders a month are free, then a 1% fee per additional synced order, capped at $99 a month (checked September 25, 2026).
- Amazon's MCF app for Shopify ships Shopify orders from FBA stock and pushes FBA inventory levels to Shopify; Shopify says you don't need to sell on Amazon to use it.
- Amazon waives its usual 5% surcharge for blocking Amazon Logistics on MCF orders, which Walmart orders need, until January 14, 2027.
- Walmart asks new sellers for products with GTIN or UPC numbers from a GS1 company prefix, and for fulfillment through WFS or a US warehouse that handles returns.
- Ecomsellertool has built on Amazon's seller APIs since 2017 and shipped integrations for 20+ marketplaces, including Shopify, Amazon, Walmart and TikTok Shop.
Where it usually hurts
- Stock sits in a Shopify location, a 3PL and now FBA, and every channel shows a different number, so you oversell on one channel while stock sits idle for another.
- A connector app got the listings live, but nobody decided which warehouse ships a Walmart order or when Amazon MCF should ship a Shopify order.
- Amazon and Walmart ask for GTINs, a trademark if you want Amazon Brand Registry, shipping templates and a returns setup that your Shopify store never needed.
- Marketplace orders land in Shopify, but fees, ad spend and returns stay in each seller portal, so nobody knows which channel makes money.
- Marketplace ads run on their own, and spend keeps going to SKUs that are about to run out.
What we build
- One stock ledger across Shopify locations, FBA, WFS and your 3PLs that publishes a buffered quantity to every channel.
- Catalog mapping from your Shopify products to Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Target Plus, with per-channel rules for titles, attributes and prices.
- Order routing that sends each order to your 3PL, Amazon MCF or Walmart's network by stock, ship-by date and cost.
- Profit per channel from marketplace fees, fulfillment costs, ad spend and your own cost of goods.
- Sync and routing that follow fixed rules you approve, plus an AI agent whose model steps forecast demand to size stock buffers and read buyer and 3PL messages, with exceptions coming back to your team.
What we have built for businesses like this
Many Shopify brands reach Amazon and Walmart the same way: install a connector app, push the catalog and watch the first marketplace orders arrive in the Shopify admin. That part is easy now. The trouble starts a few weeks later, when stock sits in a Shopify location, a 3PL and FBA at once, each channel shows a different number, and nobody has decided which warehouse ships a Walmart order. This page is for US direct-to-consumer brands on Shopify adding their first or second marketplace. It covers when a connector app is enough, how to keep one stock count, how orders should ship and what we build once an app runs out.
When is a connector app enough, and when is it not?
Start with the cheap option, because for many brands it is enough. Shopify's own way to sell Shopify products on Amazon and Walmart is its Marketplace Connect app (formerly Codisto). Its help center lists Amazon, eBay, Walmart (US only) and Target Plus (US only), and says new Etsy connections can't be made for now. It lists your Shopify products on those marketplaces, imports their orders into your Shopify admin and syncs stock and tracking back. TikTok Shop is not on that list: TikTok's own TikTok app for Shopify manages TikTok Shop orders and inventory from the Shopify admin (both checked September 25, 2026).
The price is low. Per its Shopify App Store listing, Marketplace Connect is free to install, the first 50 marketplace-synced orders each month are free, and each additional synced order carries a 1% fee, capped at $99 a month. The usual Marketplace Connect alternatives are apps from other vendors that cover more channels in one place: LitCommerce's listing names Amazon, Etsy, eBay, TikTok Shop, Walmart and Temu, among others, on paid monthly plans (both checked September 25, 2026). If your stock sits in one place and your channels are on those lists, an app is the better choice. It goes live quickly and costs less than any build.
Connector app or your own layer: the decision table
The table sets Marketplace Connect, as Shopify describes it on September 25, 2026, against an operations layer of your own, row by row: channels, catalog, stock, fulfillment, ads, data and price. The last column says when the app is the better choice, and for a brand on its first marketplace it often is.
| Question | Shopify Marketplace Connect (checked Sep 25, 2026) | Your own operations layer | The app is enough when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Which channels? | Amazon, eBay, Walmart (US) and Target Plus (US); no new Etsy connections; TikTok Shop through TikTok's own app | Every channel you sell on, from one system, including ones no app covers | Your channels are on the app's list |
| Where does the catalog live? | Shopify products are the source; it suggests matches for existing listings by SKU, UPC or title | One catalog with rules per channel for titles, attributes and prices; Shopify can stay where your team edits content | Listings need few changes per channel |
| Which stock does a marketplace see? | The inventory location you pick from a drop-down, per product, in bulk or for a whole regional marketplace; not per variant | One ledger across Shopify locations, FBA, WFS and 3PLs, with a buffer per channel | Stock sits in one location, or mostly in FBA |
| What happens when FBA runs out? | An Amazon listing switches to your merchant-fulfilled stock once its FBA stock is depleted | Every channel draws on the same ledger, with a floor that protects Amazon days of cover | Amazon is the only channel using FBA stock |
| Who ships each order? | Orders import into Shopify and ship from the Shopify admin, a fulfillment app, or Amazon (FBA or MCF) | Each order routed to your 3PL, MCF or WFS by stock, ship-by date and cost | One warehouse ships nearly everything |
| Channel shipping rules | Target Plus orders can't use Amazon or Walmart fulfillment services | Rules checked before cost, such as blank boxes and Amazon Logistics blocked for Walmart orders through MCF | You ship from your own warehouse or 3PL |
| Ads and profit | Not covered: its help center sections are requirements, setup, products and orders | Ad spend read next to stock, and profit per channel after fees, fulfillment and cost of goods | Each channel's ad console and Shopify reports are enough |
| Where the data sits | Marketplace orders appear on your Shopify Orders page, with the marketplace in the Channel field | On your own accounts and infrastructure, with history beyond what each portal keeps | Shopify reports answer your questions |
| Price | Free to install; 50 synced orders a month free, then a 1% fee per additional synced order, capped at $99 a month | Scoped in an architecture doc with a fixed price and go-live date; the Growth OS base is licensed to you | Budget decides, and the rows above fit |
Two rows decide most cases. The first is stock location. Shopify's inventory location settings for Marketplace Connect have you pick the inventory location from a drop-down, product by product, in bulk or for a whole regional marketplace, and you can't set it per variant. If one product's stock is split between your warehouse and a 3PL, check which count each marketplace will see before you connect. The second is ownership of each channel. Shopify's setup guide says it is important to have only one marketplace connector app connected to avoid data conflicts (both checked September 25, 2026). Before adding any other listing tool, decide which one owns listings, stock and orders on each channel.
Amazon also offers Shopify brands two tools of its own. Its MCF and Buy with Prime app is free to install, with pay-as-you-go fulfillment fees, and Shopify's page on Multi-Channel Fulfillment by Amazon says you don't need to sell on Amazon to use it; you need a Seller Central account, US fulfillment and customers with US addresses. On September 24, 2026, Amazon announced multichannel tools in Seller Central that connect eBay, Shopify, TikTok and Walmart accounts at no additional cost. Amazon says they will roll out gradually to US sellers over the coming months, so treat them as rolling out (US), not live (both checked September 25, 2026).
Both tools center on Amazon's fulfillment network. If most of your stock already sits in FBA and Amazon is your largest channel, they may be all you need. Our breakdown of the Seller Central tools covers what is live and what is only announced. Subscription multichannel platforms sit between an app and a build: more channels and rules than an app, and nothing to write yourself. Our Rithum and ChannelAdvisor alternatives page compares them.
How do you keep one inventory truth across Shopify and marketplaces?
To sync Shopify and Amazon inventory, pick one system that holds the count and let every channel read from it. Marketplace Connect sends your Shopify quantity to merchant-fulfilled Amazon listings, and Amazon's MCF app pushes FBA levels back into Shopify. For most Shopify brands the count starts in Shopify, because products and locations already live there. It stops working once stock also sits where Shopify sees it only partly: in FBA, in Walmart Fulfillment Services or at a second 3PL. From then on, each channel's quantity has to be calculated rather than copied, and every channel has to receive it from the same place.
Quantity published to a channel = sellable units at the locations that channel may ship from − units reserved for open orders − that channel's buffer, and never less than zero
The "may ship from" part is where brands get caught. FBA units can fill Shopify orders through MCF, but Shopify's Marketplace Connect fulfillment guide says Target Plus orders can't use Amazon or Walmart fulfillment services, so FBA stock must not count toward Target Plus. The same guide describes merchant-fulfilled Amazon orders updating the count in Shopify and on Amazon. Set each buffer from days of cover and safety stock, not a flat number, and make it largest on the channels that punish a cancellation hardest.
| Stock pool | How Shopify can see it | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Your warehouse, or a 3PL set up as a Shopify location | As a Shopify location; Marketplace Connect publishes the count of the location you pick for each product | A 3PL count that drifts from Shopify's; reconcile it before routing trusts it |
| FBA | Amazon's MCF app for Shopify pushes FBA inventory levels to Shopify, and maps SKUs automatically when the Shopify and Amazon SKUs match | MCF orders draw on the same units Amazon buyers purchase |
| WFS | Not natively. Walmart Multichannel Solutions ships orders from your own website out of WFS stock through solution providers or API integrations, once your WFS account is set up | Standard delivery is 3 to 5 business days and expedited is 2, but Walmart doesn't promise either from October 1 to December 31; check both against the promise at checkout |
Mapping comes before any of this. Marketplace Connect suggests matches between existing marketplace listings and Shopify products by SKU, UPC or title, per Shopify's guide to linking listings, and Amazon's app maps SKUs automatically only when the Shopify and Amazon SKUs match; the rest you map by hand (checked September 25, 2026). Keep one SKU per sellable unit across Shopify and every marketplace, bundles and variants included. A SKU mapped to the wrong product sells stock you do not have, so check every mapping by hand before you turn the sync on. The stockouts guide covers what running out costs on each channel.
How should Shopify and marketplace orders be fulfilled?
Decide the default for each channel before the first order, then let rules handle the exceptions. Our guide to multi-marketplace order routing sets out the rules in order, and our comparison of Amazon MCF, WFS and a 3PL covers what each option costs. Here is how the three common setups look for a Shopify brand, and what goes wrong in each.
| Setup | Amazon orders | Shopify orders | Walmart and TikTok Shop orders | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FBA for everything | FBA | Multi-Channel Fulfillment through Amazon's app | MCF: Walmart orders in blank boxes with Amazon Logistics blocked; TikTok Shop orders through an integration | Other channels draining the stock Amazon buyers need |
| 3PL for everything | Merchant-fulfilled from the 3PL | The 3PL as a Shopify location | The 3PL, with tracking written back | Amazon ship-by dates, and a 3PL count that drifts |
| Hybrid | FBA | The 3PL, with MCF as overflow | The 3PL first; MCF or WFS when the 3PL runs out | Who decides the overflow, and at what cost |
Two channel rules shape the table. Amazon's guide to MCF for Walmart orders says MCF ships in blank packaging, lets you block Amazon Logistics for channels such as Walmart that don't allow it, and waives the usual 5% surcharge for blocking it until January 14, 2027. Amazon's page on MCF for TikTok Shop names integrations such as WebBee, AfterShip, Rithum and LINGXING, allows Amazon's MCF app for Shopify as an intermediate connection, and asks you not to give an Amazon warehouse as the returns address (both checked September 25, 2026).
Then match the promise at checkout to the node that ships. Shopify's order routing ranks your Shopify locations by rules such as minimizing split fulfillments, staying in the destination market and shipping from the closest location (checked September 25, 2026). Those rules rank locations; none of them compares an order's MCF fee with your 3PL's cost or checks a marketplace's ship-by date. Prime delivery on your own site, which Amazon's app offers in the US only, runs through MCF, so those orders need FBA stock. The multichannel operations agent we build sends an order at risk of missing its deadline back to your team, with a proposed re-route.
What does a Shopify brand need before its first marketplace launch?
Which marketplace to add first is its own question, and our marketplace expansion service answers it. Whichever you choose, the groundwork below is the same, and little of it happens inside Shopify. Walmart's seller registration guide asks for a business tax ID or business license number (an SSN is not accepted), documents that verify your business name and address, a history of marketplace or ecommerce sales, products with GTIN or UPC numbers from a GS1 company prefix, and fulfillment through WFS or another US warehouse that ships to consumers and handles returns (checked September 25, 2026).
- A seller account in your company's name on each marketplace, verified and approved before any app connects to it.
- GS1 barcodes for every product and variant you plan to list, checked against what is printed on the packaging.
- For Amazon Brand Registry: a registered trademark, or a pending application, for your brand name or logo, and a logo that includes your brand name permanently on the product or its packaging (checked September 25, 2026).
- One SKU scheme across Shopify and every marketplace, with bundles and variants mapped one to one.
- One connector per channel, and a written note of which tool owns listings, stock and orders for each.
- A decision on which locations feed each channel, and a buffer for each channel.
- Shipping templates and a returns address per channel; if MCF ships TikTok Shop orders, returns go to an address you control, not an Amazon warehouse.
- Walmart connections on OAuth: Walmart's developer documentation says existing Delegated Access keys work only until the end of September 2026 (checked September 25, 2026).
- Ad accounts on each marketplace in your company's name, with a rule that holds spend on SKUs about to run out.
- Your cost of goods and fulfillment cost per channel, so profit is calculated per channel from day one.
If an older connector still reaches Walmart through Delegated Access keys, our Walmart OAuth migration guide explains how to reconnect before the old keys stop working. Each marketplace adds its own rules on top of this list. Our guides to Walmart, TikTok Shop and Target Plus, and the full marketplaces hub, cover them one channel at a time, including fees, seller standards and the fulfillment options each marketplace accepts.
What do we build, and what stays yours?
Ecomsellertool is a tech agency that helps Shopify brands run Amazon, Walmart and TikTok Shop from one system. We deploy Growth OS on your own accounts, where it keeps prices, stock and content consistent across Amazon, Walmart, Shopify, eBay, TikTok Shop and 15+ other marketplaces, then build the connectors, routing rules and AI agents your operation needs. You stay the seller on every channel.
Shopify stays where it is strongest: the storefront, the checkout and your product content. The layer we add sits beside it and holds the stock ledger, the SKU map, the routing rules and profit per channel. Where a connector app already works for a channel, we can keep it and read from it, or replace it; each channel keeps one connector either way. Stock sync and routing follow fixed rules you approve and can read. The AI model steps are narrower: forecasting demand to size buffers, reading buyer and 3PL messages, and matching listings whose identifiers differ. Purchase orders, budget changes and unusual cases come back to your team with the evidence and a proposed next step.
For iDerive, an omnichannel retail analytics platform, we built a native React and Python platform on the Amazon SP-API and the Amazon Ads API. It pairs a sales dashboard across channels and a direct-to-consumer module with Amazon operations, meaning inventory, advertising and customer reviews, plus media analytics, and it handles Amazon and non-Amazon catalog data in one place. That is the shape many Shopify brands need once Amazon matters: one view of the brand, not one dashboard per channel.
For Seller7, a multi-marketplace seller OS, we helped build the order management that puts Amazon, Walmart, Target Plus, Shopify and Mirakl orders in one table with a single Process Order action, on the Amazon SP-API, the Walmart Marketplace API and the Shopify API. For Pacific Prep, a full-service prep and ship company, we built a warehouse system that syncs Shopify orders in real time alongside Amazon's inbound shipment flow and ShipStation labels. We have built on Amazon's seller APIs since 2017 and shipped integrations for 20+ marketplaces.

We never buy your inventory or sell under our own accounts, so your Shopify store, seller accounts, listings and ad accounts stay in your company's name. If you stop working with us, your accounts, data and custom code stay with you; the Growth OS base continues under its license terms. For how we license software today, see the single-company license terms we use for our white-label products. Where should a Shopify brand start?
It depends on whether you already sell on Amazon. If you do, start with the free 24-hour diagnostic: connect Amazon with Login with Amazon, no password shared, and get a report within 24 hours of connecting, on business days. We only read data; we never change listings, prices, stock or ads. The diagnostic reads an Amazon seller account, so if Amazon is still ahead of you, schedule a call from the card below instead. We will map your Shopify locations, your 3PL and your planned channels, and help you decide where stock should sit before anything is listed. Frequently asked questions
Does Shopify Marketplace Connect work with TikTok Shop?
Not as of September 25, 2026. Shopify's help center lists Amazon, eBay, Walmart (US only) and Target Plus (US only), and says new Etsy connections can't be made for now. TikTok Shop connects through TikTok's own app for Shopify, which manages TikTok Shop orders and inventory from the Shopify admin.
Can we run two connector apps for the same marketplace?
Shopify advises against it. Its setup guide says it is important to have only one marketplace connector app connected to avoid data conflicts, and that you must disconnect and uninstall your current connector app before switching to Marketplace Connect. Whatever tools you run, give each channel exactly one owner for listings, stock and orders, and write that down.
Will Amazon branding appear on Shopify orders shipped through MCF?
Not on the box. Amazon says MCF orders ship in blank packaging with no Amazon branding, at no extra cost. The delivery itself can still be made by Amazon Logistics unless you block it. Walmart orders require that block, and Amazon waives its usual 5% surcharge for blocking Amazon Logistics until January 14, 2027.
Do we need to sell on Amazon to use Amazon MCF for Shopify orders?
No. Shopify's help center says you don't need to sell on Amazon to use the Amazon MCF app. You do need an Amazon Seller Central account, stock sent into Amazon's fulfillment network, and, for that app, US fulfillment and customers with US addresses.
Do we have to move product content out of Shopify?
No. Your team can keep editing products in Shopify. The system we build reads your Shopify catalog, maps each product to its marketplace listings and applies per-channel rules for titles, attributes and prices, so your team keeps working where it already does.
We are not on Amazon yet. Can we still start with the free diagnostic?
The free 24-hour diagnostic reads an Amazon seller account, so it needs one. Shopify-only brands start with a call instead: we look at your Shopify locations, your 3PL, the channels you plan to add and where stock should sit before anything is listed on a marketplace.
How is the work priced?
Custom modules and agents are scoped in an architecture doc with a fixed price and go-live date before work starts. The Growth OS base is licensed to you, with terms on request. Marketplace fees, fulfillment fees and ad spend are paid by you directly to each marketplace or provider.
